The grey that brought a smile
4:53 PM
Today I woke up a couple of hours later than usual, to find that the sky was foggy and grey. Grey is typically a gloomy colour, especially when it comes to the weather, but I like it. I love being inside while outside the rain pours down as if the sky was splitting open. Today was just like that, which meant no school. Here, they never usually close school because of the weather, but do to some recent incidents in near-by cities, today was an exception. And I couldn't be happier for my free-stay-at-home-and-relax day.
I've been enjoying the simplicity of this day. I've been needing this little break, and it couldn't have had better timing. I've spent the hours lounging around in my pjs, catching up on youtube videos I wanted to watch, binge-streaming tv shows, reading blogs, and just generally doing nothing. The only productive thing I've done is study for school (though probably not as much as I should have).
Overall, the day so far has been peaceful. I've lit a christmas candle, I'm drinking tea and eating a yummy almond, banana, and chocolate muffin I made late last night (to celebrate my free day).
Yes the muffin is a bit burnt, but that's because our oven isn't so good at the whole "being an oven" thing. Luckily the muffin is still good. |
I really just wanted to write this blog post for anybody who is feeling stressed out or overwhelmed. This is a reminder that you can take a day off, and it can make a world of difference. Let your mind breathe, and I promise, your whole outlook on life will brighten up!
I'm sorry that this was such a short blog post, but it feels right. Plus, I want to spend as much time as possible doing nothing before I have to go to the gym tonight. Wish me luck!
