Priorities | Sunday Says
7:21 PMI think this is one of the most powerful quotes I've found in a while. As soon as I read it, it was as if a whole wall of denial that had been built in my mind, was crumpled to pieces. The letters climbed out of my computer screen and into my brain, tearing down metaphorical bricks until, among the ruins and rubble, the only thing left was the truth. This truth, my truth, is simple and cruel, and it's probably yours too.
Just writing this post is hard, because I have become so numb to this. I know this truth, but I don't pay attention to it. It is the truth of our generation, of our modern day society. Of the world that has forgotten its values and has filled that whole with material things. New, shiny material things, but nonetheless, material things, that have no value in the long run.
It's not our fault, and it's not all bad. I'm a beauty blogger, so I'll be the first to admit that material products are amazing, and I'm not saying we should stop buying (or blogging) them. However, we need to remember our priority.
The most important thing is yourself and your relations. Don't immerse yourself in a pool of products to try and drown out your problems. Talk to people. Fight and make up. Explore the world. Discover yourself. Spend quality time with your friends and family. Learn new things. Study. Take a little time everyday to bring back value to the things that are actually important.
The truth that I have discovered is that we have lost touch with ourselves and the people around us because we're too caught up in material things. It's a sad truth, but it's one that can be changed.
