Autumn Must Haves
5:02 PMHey guys!
Autumn is officially upon us which means a new season has begun. This brings a change in weather, but, more importantly, also a change in beauty and fashion necessities. So here are my 2014 fall beauty must haves:
1) My first essential product for fall is a primer because I really need my makeup to stay on my skin the whole day at school. The one I've been loving lately is the "DHC Velvet Skin Coat". This is a really good product because a little goes a long way, it makes my skin feel super soft (like velvet..duh!) and it keeps my makeup on for the whole school day.
2) To put on top of the primer I love BB cream. I think BB cream is better than foundation in autumn because it's one of those seasons that has both warm and cold days. On more summery-like days (which where you live might not be common in fall, but here we've been having quite a lot) it's good because it's lightweight and it blends better into the skin. This way it won't make your face feel too heavy or like it's melting off. However it's also perfect for colder days because it's moisturising and it won't dry out your skin like foundation often does. The one I've been using, and really enjoying, is the Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream. It blends really well, it's very moisturising, it's oil free and it has spf protection. What more could a girl want?
3) School. School. School. Why do you do this to me? How do you expect me to look good if I have to wake up at dawn? Highlighting concealers. I'm telling you girls, it's the only way to survive the school season. The one I've been loving is a classic that everybody has already talked about, and for good reasons: L'Oreal Lumi Magique. This concealer is amazing! It brightens up your under eye instantly and actually makes it look like you got a decent amount of sleep (which we all know you didn't).
4) I like to keep my eyes very simple, especially when I have school, but I always pop on a neutral eye shadow. Lately I've been loving the Mac matte eyeshadow in Quarry. It's a nice neutral purple that's easy to wear but reminds me of autumn. Since I'm always in a rush in the morning, I usually only wear this on my eyes. I pat it evenly all over the lid, blend a little extra in the crease for definition, and also bring it down to line the bottom part of my eyes. It's super easy to do and I think it looks so much nicer than just a plain lid.
On the eyes it comes out less purple and more grey-toned, so it's more neutral than it actually seems here. |
5) Finally the most fun part: the lips. First thing first, lip balm. This is such an important step because autumn is when lips start to chap and moisturising them not only makes them healthier, but also lets lipstick apply so much better. My all time favourite lip balm is the Vaseline Lip Therapy in cherry. This product is amazing. I'm not kidding. I have been using it since last year and I still haven't ran out of it and my lips have never chapped.
Now that our lips are ready let's move on to the best bit: lipstick. Autumn is all about the bold berry lip, but to be honest I don't wear it quite often. I love it, but I'm really scared that it's a bit too much, especially for a daily use. However, when I do decide to rock it, I usually wear a lipstick from the brand Pupa in the shade "Diva's Rouge".
